Tis the season of festive parades, glittering lights, shopping galore and holiday treats and there is no better place to find such delectable delights than Chicago!
Chicago is a fabulous place to be no matter the time of year, but at Christmas time it becomes even more special. Yes, it is festively cold, but a warm coat and cup of hot chocolate can add to the spirit of the Holidays. The city has many great Holiday attractions between Thanksgiving and Christmas.The traditional Thanksgiving Day Parade with its seasonal attractions is a favorite among locals and tourists. The week prior to the parade is when one can really feel the holiday spirit come alive. The Magnificent Mile Lights festival with a tree lighting parade is the first event to get the spirit of the holidays going and to test all of your sensory receptors. The Daley Plaza hosts The Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony where you will experience one of the most amazing and beautifully lit fir trees in the country.
The Daley Plaza also plays host to the Christkindlmarket. This German Christmas Market is one the best in the United States. The market offers traditional German food, gifts and handmade goods. With traditional German entertainment and nearly three quarters of the vendors speaking German and English, it’s about as authentic as you can imagine.
Shopping opportunities are endless while in Chicago and the Magnificent Mile offers an abundance and variety of boutiques and stores to spark every interest, meet every need and delight every visitor. The shops, whether they cater to apparel, art, gourmet food, jewelery or a pet boutique are as diverse as the goods they sell. It is one of the biggest department stores in the world, but it’s also home to the Great Tree which is decorated with more than 12,000 sparkling lights.

Maybe your forte is Museums. In Chicago there are plenty of amazing museums to visit. Among the favorites are the Museum of Science and Industry, the Shedd Aquarium, the Museum of Contemporary Art and Adler Planetarium.
