Renting a scooter

Alright you have decided to rent a scooter for your next vacation.  The hard part is done RIGHT?

Actually you need to think about a couple things in renting a scooter, and getting one that best meets YOUR NEEDS.  Scooters come in 3 sizes, according to the weight of passengers.  The heaviier the passenger is the bigger the scooter needs to be.

Next, think about if you would like some shade, and a basket.  These are extras that come on some scooters, and can truely "save the day"  We have been known to decorate our basket with drinks and trinkets, so the whole family benefits from a basket.  And the shaded scooters on a hot day can be very helpful.

Finally, think about how much you are going to be using the scooter.  Is this just for inside a condo, and around the pool?  You don't need to have a large battery for that, and the battery can be charged throughout the day.  If, however, you are attempting an all day outing, a theme park, etc.  look for scooters that have longer battery life.  We have been stranded more than once out of our hotel with a dead scooter due to battery problems.  Made for great stories later on, with lots of laughing, but not humourous at the moment.  Splurge an extra $10.00 a day for a better, longer battery life.  Your family will thank you.

As a word of caution, make sure your scooter rental is available for any maintenance problems, etc.  Check out the companiy before you rent.  Vacation BY V has a number of good companies in the Florida area, as well as in a couple of major cities to help smooth the transition.  Don't be afraid to ask questions eiither.

Here's to helping you get out of towm!

Renting Scooters #1

All About Renting Scooters for Vacation

The world is opening up for people who have walking challenges.  Today people often use scooters .  These handy mobile machines are portable, and can be rented, or owned.  Many people use scooters for a variety of reasons including recoperating from a surgery, accident, or illness.  Other people have more chronic, long term mobility issues from Arthritus, Chronic Fatigue, MS, or other conditions.  Each of these populations can benefit from scooters.

One of the main questions when renting a scooter is when is the scooter going to be used?  Scooters can be rented back home, unaessembled fairly easily, and fit into the back of a car or van.  The advantages to renting the scooter from home is that the rental is usually cheaper, and the scooter is with you along the entire trip.  If you are planning a trip to the National Parks, the Beach, or a trip with multiple stops along the way I suggest renting the scooter from home.  The rental runs about 200.00 per week, but can be cheaper in other areas.

If you are going to be on a cruise, a large city, or flying into a resort area it may be better to rent the scooter at the destination.  Companies can deliver the scooter to your cabin or hotel room to simplify things.  Some cities, especially Orlando and Las Vegas have multiple companies that can assist the mobility challenged individual.

So... if renting a scooter is getting in the way of planning a vacation I encourage everyone to GO FOR IT... and GET OUT OF TOWN!

What The Heck Is Accessible Travel?

Have you seen all the scooters and electric wheel chairs in grocery stores and the malls recently?  These vehicles are part of a new, and growing trend of items that help people who  who have some mobility challenges get out and be more independent.  Accessible Travel takes that concept 1 step further, and makes trips to the beach, on a cruise, to a big city, or even a resort more enjoyable for people who have mobility issues, or just are slow walkers with arthritus, or other alments.

Accessible Travel focuses on helping people in the airport, finding a perfect fit for a hotel room, working with service animals, or even getting a condo on the beach with hearing impared devices.  There are so man new options for people with "differences"

Accessible Travel takes the stress out of traveling, and works with individuals and familys to create a vacation/travel experience fit for Everyone.  Maybe you needn  a wheel chair that works on sand, or a refridgerator in the room to keep prescribptions and medication.  Also, dietary needs can be discussed with recommendations.  Do you need to be close to a medical center?  Rent a Wheel Chari Acessible Van, or need oxygenwa tanks to travel?  This is how Accessible Travel can help ytou.

In the coming weeks I will share informaiton on each of these options, and give insight into easy tricks to simplify and destress travel  In the mean time remember, the World is a wonderfuu place to explore, so Get Out Of Town with Vacation By V.

Getting anywhere… with an electric scooter

35 years ago wheel chairs and walkers were mainly located in medical facilities.  If anyone talked about scooters it would be in reference to a child's toy.  Computers were big, bulky machines that had lots of possibilities, but were mainly used as glorified typewriters with memory.  That was the world I grew up in.

So today,10 years later, I honor Mom by helping other people wth mobility issues get out of their homes, and into the world again.
What a difference the scooter made!  We went to Disney World with 2 very active 6 year olds.  Disney World caters to people with mobility issues.

We rode all the buses and boats, which were accessible. She also went everywhere with us, including all the rides (unless she was too chicken for it).  Mom laughed all the way through Disney, and had NO PARKINSONS SYMPTOMS the whole vacation!

Years ago my mm had Parkinsons Disease, and thought she could not go on vacation with the family.  I refused to believe this, and  encouraged her to look into renting a scooter to help mobility and fatigure issues.

client tRAVELS

My name is Carlos Guzman I am a fairly new client of Vacation By V. You could say that I was an internet travel shopper. I would spend hours surfing countless sites and looking for the best deal I could find. Sometimes I would luck out and find a great deal on a great hotel. Other times my vacation planning skills would be considered an "EPIC FAIL" by my wife. When I thought of the term "travel agent" the thought of it being more expensive always crossed my mind. I knew I could do a better job than a travel agent could. Then I met Vicky.

My wife and I never had a honeymoon so I was looking at planning an anniversary trip to Cancun. As I usually did I spent hours scouring the internet for the best deal I could. After I found the best possible deal on the best possible property I gave the challenge to Vicky. My challenge was easy... "Beat It!" Did we end up going to the place I had spent hours finding? No!
